چکیده
This paper presents a sketch-based user interface for constructing 3D models with hierarchical structures. A hierarchical model consists of multiple separate parts connected by joints, and a designer can animate the model by specifying the rotation angle at each joint. In traditional modeling systems, the user has to construct each part separately, and connect them one by one specifying the relative position of each part and the pivot (center of rotation) of each joint. Our technique is an extension of extrusion operation introduced in a sketch-based freeform modeling system called Teddy. Whenever the user extrudes the object, the system creates a new part and set pivot at the basis of the extrusion. As a result, the user can construct hierarchical objects easily without specifying relative position and pivot of a part explicitly.

Free-form sketching
With the advent of sketch-based methods for shape construction, there’s a new degree of power available in the rapid creation of approximate shapes. Sketch [Zeleznik, 1996] showed how a gesture-based modeler could be used to simplify conventional CSG-like shape creation. Teddy [Igarashi, 1999] extended this to more free-form models, getting much of its power from its "inflation" operation (whic...
متن کامل3D model construction of induced polarization and resistivity data with quantifying uncertainties using geostatistical methods and drilling (Case study: Madan Bozorg, Iran)
Madan Bozorg is an active copper mine located in NE Iran, which is a part of the very wide copper mineralization zone named Miami-Sabzevar copper belt. The main goal of this research work is the 3D model construction of the induced polarization (IP) and resistivity (Rs) data with quantifying the uncertainties using geostatistical methods and drilling. Four profiles were designed and surveyed us...
متن کاملRubberneck Navigation: Manipulating Frames of Reference for 3D Navigation with 2D Input Devices
We present a novel technique for allowing users to control both viewpoint motion and orientation using a 2D input device with a button to provide cognitively simple and unobtrusive navigation in desktop 3D virtual environments. In this task, the user must control the three frames of reference—environment, body, and head—with a single 2D input device. The underlying observation to our solution i...
متن کاملDeveloping a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
